Who are the Morts?
We are Chris & Christina Mortifoglio, a newlywed couple from New York City. We met as freshman at the University of Georgia, got married 10 years later, recently quit our jobs, and are now embarking on the trip of a lifetime around the world!
About Christina
Christina grew up in the DC area and has been working in the event planning business for the past six years. Her passion for travel began when she studied abroad in Paris during college and grew as she taught English in northern France after graduation. Besides traveling, she loves cooking vegetarian meals, spending time with her best friends in NYC, reading, and watching Food Network. She’s looking forward to spending more time outside this year and having the opportunity to do lots of hiking.
Christina is looking forward to so many parts of this trip, but in particular she can’t wait to visit:
- Her great-grandfather’s hometown of Chiliomodi, Greece
- The Taj Mahal
- Where her mom and aunt grew up in Okinawa, Japan
- The Seychelles, and
- Friends & family in France.
About Chris
Chris grew up in Connecticut and has been working as a forensic accountant since graduating from UConn in 2008. An opportunity in 2009 to work in London for 9 months fueled his passion for traveling. Since this was his first time outside of North America, he took advantage of every opportunity to visit a new country. Whether it was a weekend in Amsterdam or a 24-hour stint in Dublin, these trips around Europe quickly had him hooked on travel. Besides traveling, Chris loves exercising, eating (especially pizza), going to concerts, cooking and watching sports.
His top five spots that he’s looking forward to traveling to are (in no particular order):
- Dubai
- Sicily
- Myanmar (Burma)
- The Seychelles
- Cambodia
As a couple, we have enjoyed taking several trips together, including a cruise in the Caribbean, island-hopping in Hawaii, as well as a trip to Sicily to meet some of Chris’s relatives. We can’t wait to add many more places and memories to this list!
